Small Town Celebrations

I love the 4th of July in small towns. Everyone has a great time. We went down to the Konetehte Park in Murphy, NC this morning to check out the happenings there. I’m not good in the heat anymore so I get there early. Saw lots of old friends. They we just gearing up and will end tonight with fireworks.

My friend Lynn has started a dog treat business. I tasted the gingersnap treat and it was good. Check out her website at www.threeblackdogsbarkery.com. I hope to carry some of her treats in the shop later this summer.

Good to see the mayor and his wife in front of the Cherokee Arts Council’s booth. The Arts Council has been doing a great job of promoting local artists. Check them out at www.cherokeeartscouncil.org for up-coming events.

Always good to see Theron Clore and his wife Shirley. He has his photos in my shop or you can catch him every Sat. morning at the Farmer’s Market in downtown Murphy.

Hope you’all had a great 4th !!

Let’s Celebrate !!

Over the past few months I have been so wrapped up in every day life that I’ve let some things slide. Like my blog, my housework and my crafts.  My husband had not been feeling well and last month he had another heart attack.  The recovery is a little more tricky this time. I wanted him “fixed” like last time.

Then Ron, friend/camera-guy/editor, had major family illnesses, too. He hasn’t had time to edit all the shows we shot last Spring.

BUT……I’ve decided that not only can I celebrate the 4th of July and all the wonderful things it stands for, I can celebrate the fact that Casper is doing well, Ron’s family is on the mend and we can all move on from this. I declare independence from all the worries and problems I’ve accrued and celebrate the fact we are still here and happy.

I look forward to more posts, more shows and getting out and seeing more of my friends. Life moves on.

Happy 4th !!!!!!!

Tea Cup Birdfeeder

Mountain Morning in Andrews NC has been offering some fun classes this month. I went to the bird feeder class yesterday and had a great time.  The classes are only $10 and that includes everything. We actually made two different projects but I’m saving the other for later postings.

The PVC pipe had been painted for us. (Save on drying time) I decided I wanted the cup with grapes on it because I knew I could actually paint grapes on my post. We glued the cup to the saucer, then both to a coupling that fit over the pipe. While that dried we painted designs on the post.

Painting on PVC is tricky. There are new plastic paints but they still chip easy.

This morning I just stuck the pole in the ground, fitted the coupling on to the post and filled it with wild bird seed. Ta-Da !! A great addition to my little flower garden.
