Sherry grew up in the foothills of Appalachia. As a child she knew all of the trees and flowers by name and spent many hours roaming the woods. Sherry and her family have a long history of making handmade items. Her father was a woodcarver. Her Mother was a watercolor artist.

Sherry developed a love of handmade pottery during the 70’s. While she was busy raising a family and working full time she could only collect handmade pottery and dream of “someday”.

In 2002 Sherry and her husband Ron bought a river cottage on the Hiawassee River in Murphy, NC. “We needed this escape to retain our sense of balance while working in the corporate world. We both grew up in the country and missed the quite times with nature.” In 2006 they moved to the river full time and Sherry was finally free to pursue a life long dream of throwing pots. Someday was here!

Sherry took classes from local potters and attended classes at nearby John C. Campbell Folk School. She loves folk art pottery and is having more fun than she ever dreamed. You can visit Sherry in the Shops of Brasstown most Saturdays.
