March 30th, 2009

Click on “Watch Videos” on the right to see our newest show.

In this episode we explore the world of folk art with Tipper from “Blind Pig And The Acorn“. Jackie trys her hand at making a butterfly print.

Next week we visit with other members the Wilson family as they entertain us with some good old “pickin’ and grinnin’” country music. This will be our 25th show and will close out our second season of Carolina Crafting. We hope you have enjoyed the artist, crafters and musicians we have profiled. We’re off to tape more episodes for you this April along with our other shows “Green As You Can Be” and “Git Yer Q On The Road“.

We’ll be on hand to capture the first annual Earth Day Celebration at Brasstown, NC. Sponsored by “Green As You Can Be“. Hope to see many of you there.

Craft Show Applications

It’s that time of year again. If you are like me, you are lining up your shows for the year. I have limited mine to just 3 or 4 a year now but there was a time where I was doing a lot more.

The first one I do every Fall is in Murphy. It’s in a park and really nice. To apply for this one you can visit www.heritagepartners.org. Or contact Paula Bryan at paulabryan@brmemc.net. The date for the show is Saturday, September 5, 9 a.m. to 4p.m.

My favorite is the Fall Festival at the John C. Campbell Folk School. They are taking applications now. The show is October 3rd and 4th. This is the 36th year. It gets better every year. You can get info from their web site: www.folkschool.org and click on events.

Hope to see you at the shows !!!

Spring is Here

Spring is a time of hope and renewal. We see it all around us. Trees are budding, daffodils are blooming and the birds are singing. Winter lasted too long this year. It’s been wonderful to walk my sick hubby around our yard looking at all the new growth and promise. I look at him and see promise.

I drove down to my shop in Brasstown just to check on my shop. My friend Nan has been so great about keeping it open while I’ve been caring for Casper. While I was there, I noticed that Judy at Frog and the Dragon had put in her new walkway, making it handicap accessible. Her husband, John, does landscaping and waterfalls. He did a great job on the front of the shop. (www.waterfallsbypeppers.com)

Murphy Heritage Festival Part 2 Postponed

Posted in Videos  by: admin
March 15th, 2009

Due to some technical difficulties (i.e. time code problems with the second video) and the fact that Jackie’s husband Casper had a massive heart attack and stroke a week ago Friday we will be postponing the uploading of part 2 of the Murphy Heritage Festival. It will be scheduled at a later date.

We here at Cutter Media are pulling for Casper who is making a remarkable recovery. After he has recuperated sufficiently from the stroke he will still need bypass surgery . We plan on taping our third season of shows in April but will need to work around Casper’s surgery. We’ll get it all done eventually. Just as long as Casper gets well.

Our last episode of this season will feature Tipper’s folk art from “Blind Pig & the Acorn” along with the Wilson Family Band. This show should go online on March 30th.
