Winter

Winter in this part of the country is not brutal, it’s just too long. Right now, I’m wishing for warm weather, flowers and a chance to move into my new craft studio. (I have no heat up there)
This winter I have been slacking. Moving has put me so far behind. I can’t find anything. Every time I start a project I have to stop because I can’t find all the things I need to finish the project.
The up-side to this is that I have friends that are working and creating wonderful art. My friend Pam Silva from Silva’s Gallery in “downtown” Brasstown has been really busy. She’s added a new room to her shop for fibers and she has been making wonderful mixed media wall hangings. She has been using some copper in her work and it makes the pieces glow.
Judy’s Place (The Frog and the Dragon) also in Brasstown, has added a line of funky clothes from Sacred Threads. While not hand made, they are totally cool and make you feel really good while wearing them. (I’m still waiting for the larger sizes to arrive)
My daffodils have poked their heads through the earth, it’s only a matter of time before they bloom. Spring’s not that far away. I do have a list of projects I can start soon. In the mean time I will enjoy the work of my talented friends.
Just Jackie
Finally I have signs, rack cards and business cards with a design I really love. My friends, Pam and Dave Silva came up with not only the Carolina Crafting design but also for my “Green As You Can Be” webcast/blog. Everything is now tied together. Now, if I could just move into the bigger shop everything would be perfect !!!
Usually I have a good grip on this holiday, but not this year. I received two boxes of candy from my sweetie but here it is Valentine’s morning and I have nothing for him. Sad??? Yes. will I fix it??? Yes, I will. In the mean time I will have a cup of tea and wish all of my readers a Happy Valentine’s Day.
I’m always trying to think of something new to make. Something I like to do and will make people smile. Last summer I made my two nieces, Allie and Zoe, some cute little dolls. Not real dolls, I cannot make a real doll, I’ve tried and they just don’t work out. But I had some luck just painting some wooden ones and gluing some fabric on. I painted a paper mache box and put four dolls in the box. It looked really cute. When the girls were in restaurants waiting for their food to come they would played with the dolls. It was a good idea. Then I didn’t make anymore. In need to start again. They were fun to make. I was thinking about themes. Like maybe painting them to look like Goldilocks and the Three Bears, or little Red Riding Hood.
