Great Time

First of all, I need to tell you that my idea of a  successful day at a craft show is that I make my booth rental, I make a new friend and I have something really good to eat.  The Heritage Festival exceeded my expectations !! I had a great day. I made a new friend (even though I didn’t get her name, she has my email address and I know I will hear from her). Her booth was across from me and she made the cutest things for babies. I had a yummy pulled pork sandwich with Cole slaw on it, made by the folks who run the homeless shelter.  I even made a few dollars.

This year the craft show was in Konehete Park and I liked it a lot better. It was more spread out and there were paved walk-ways. There will be a special here on Carolina Crafting later in the year where you can see the whole Festival.

Thanks to all the folks that attended and supported the Heritage Society.

Heritage Walk in Murphy

August 29th, 2008

Don’t forget the 8th Annual Heritage Walk in Murphy NC, tomorrow, August 30.  It will be at the Konehete Park. The day starts at 9 am.

This one-day event is packed with fun and interesting things for the whole family. The Heritage Walk is a self guided walking tour of historic Murphy, featuring characters from the past. A continuous shuttle service will be provided.

There will be a silent benenfit auction, festival merchandise and an antique tractor display. On the Mountain Song Stage will be traditional music of the area including my favorite group, Polecat Creek.

Also in the park will be a craft show featuring artists and crafters; both local and from surrounding areas. There will be a large variety of festival food.

Downtown Murphy will still hosts it’s weekly farmers market. (the tomatoes I bought there last week were the best EVER)

There will be something for everyone, come on out and have some fun.

Because we have had so much rain this week, taping of new shows has come to a halt. Having extra time, we went out to my tiny, tiny shop in Brasstown and did some work. As you can see from the picture, it is quite cozy. Just the right size for what I want to do. I’ll post more pictures as we progress. I would like to be able to be open by next weekend. I’ll be open Thursday, Friday and Saturday’s, unless I’m off to a craft show. With this shop, I hope to cut down on the number of craft shows I do and concentrate on the shop.

Don’t forget the Heritage Walk in Murphy this Saturday. The weatherman has promised nice weather. We will be shooting a special of the Festival for all to see.

Season Two

We have had a busy time last week. We have taped 12 new shows so far and may squeeze in a few more this week before Ron heads back to Florida.

You can look forward to wood turning, furniture building, sugar scrub making, painting, Farmer’s Markets and much, much more. I am so happy with what we have. Everyone was so much fun and informative. I learn something new every time.

Good news in my crafting world. I’m doing a craft show in Murphy, NC on Saturday. It’s the Heritage Walk. Lots of fun. Also, I rented a tiny, tiny store in Brasstown, NC. Krafty Kitties now has a home. If you are in the area, drop by. I would love to meet anyone who watches my show. I will have a booth at the Fall Festival at the John C. Campbell Folk School October 4 and 5. Also, I will travel over the mountain to Franklin, NC twice. The first show is the 16th Annual Smoky Mountain Fall Art and Craft Festival. It’s held at the Macon County Fairgrounds in Franklin. It will be held October 16, 17 and 18. The second one is the Mistletoe Magic Art and Craft show, November 28 and 29. It will be at the Macon County Community Building in Franklin.

Remember, Fall is prime time for craft shows. Christmas shop early, support your local crafter.

Today we are offering a bonus episode featuring the construction of a huge kiln in North Carolina by Rob Withrow at Smoke In The Mountains Pottery.

This is the last show of our first season. We hope you enjoyed the crafters and artists we featured this season. Please let us know what you would like to see in the future by commenting here or using our contact form under the “Contact” menu above. We’re planning a demo of blacksmithing and an artist who uses a chainsaw to carve out his artwork. Over the next month we’ll be roaming all over North Carolina exploring the many local crafters and artists. At the same time we will be taping our new shows “Git Yer Q On The Road” with host Shawn Campbell and “Carolina Wine Traveler“, hosted by Dorothy Guzzo. Hope you will join us for season two starting this fall.
